EXCLUSIVE: Archana Puran Singh recalls Yash Chopra getting angry at Shah Rukh Khan for his ‘gentleman’ gesture towards her during KKHH shoot

Archana Puran Singh – who is a permanent guest on The Great Indian Kapil Show, has entertained audiences both on the small and big screen. One of her most well-known roles in Bollywood is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in which she essayed the role of ‘Ms Braganza.’ The film also featured Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherji, Anupam Kher, Salman Khan and others.

Archana has also played supporting characters in films such as Kick, De Dana Dan, Bol Bachchan, Mohabbatein and Raja Hindustani to name a few. In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Archana Puran Singh recalled the shooting days of Yash Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with SRK, and the actor being an absolute gentleman on sets. Archana Puran Singh on Shah Rukh Khan

When shown a picture of her dancing with Anupam Kher and Shah Rukh Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota Hain’ Koi Mil Gaya, Archana Puran Singh got nostalgic remembering the bygone days. She said, “This is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the song Koi Mil Gaya. This was when we shot in Mehboob, and I remember while shooting the song – on stage 2 or something, the makeup rooms were very far away. Shah Rukh had a van, and Kajol did not have a van. The makeup rooms were far away, and I was wearing heels. It was difficult as I was dancing and all, I had to go to sit. So, Shah Rukh offered me to sit in his van. There was a long gap and I dozed off in the van. So, Shah Rukh must have come and he was like, ‘Let her sleep. I am anyways going for the shot.'”

Singh further mentioned, “And I was like fast asleep, but I could hear faintly that Shah Rukh got a call and he left whispering so that I didn’t get up. He did that just to not disturb me. It was very sweet that he left his van for his co-star. ” She added, “Yash Johar – the film producer, became angry. He was like, ‘Why are you (Shah Rukh) out of your van and all, go inside your van.’ So Shah Rukh answered that I was sleeping. Yash ji went like, ‘Who is sleeping in your van?’ He answered Archana ji, and that he asked me to sleep in his van. When I woke up, I asked Shah Rukh why are you doing this? “

Calling SRK a gentleman, she continued, “He was so sweet, such a gentleman always, so considerate about everyone on set. And I also remember once I get up I’m always hungry. I took a few sweets from his fridge. I shooed away the spotboy, and I ate about half of the sweet box.”
